The film revolves around Johnson (Kalabhavan Mani), the righteous son of a dreaded local thug, Amarakaran Pathrose (also played by Kalabhavan Mani). Johnson dreams of becoming a police officer and erasing his father's ill reputation in society. He gets posted as the sub-inspector in his own village of Muthangakuzhi, where he faces various challenges from criminals and politicians. He also falls in love with Gouri (Indraja), the daughter of a retired police officer.[2]
The film was released on 24 June 2005 and was a hit at the box office. It was praised for its action sequences, comedy and music. The songs were well received, especially the song "Sona..Sona.." sung by Kalabhavan Mani and "Iniyum mizhikal nirayaruthe" by K.J. Yesudas.[1] The film was later dubbed in Odia under the same title.[3]
